I’ve played around with a few different Kel-Tec guns in the past, but it wasn’t until recently that I was able to get my hands on a Kel-Tec Sub-2000. Yes, I know, I am late to the game… but what better way to commemorate a great day out on the firing range than to write up a review on this interesting rifle? Well, I may be throwing around the word ‘rifle’ a little too loosely there. The Kel-Tec Sub-2000 is a blowback powered semi-automatic gun that looks very much like a stripped down, skinny rifle.

Focused On Mobility: The Kel-Tec Sub-2000 ReviewI’ve played around with a few different Kel-Tec guns in the past, but it wasn’t until recently that I was able to get my hands on a Kel-Tec Sub-2000. Seriously, if anything, this gun is just neat to look at. And that is okay, it doesn’t need all that extra bulk because it is designed to fire light load ammunition such as 9mm or .40cal and it can accept the very same clip that you are using in your Smith & Wesson M&P , Sig Sauer P226 , Beretta 92 or 96, and your Glock 17 , 19, 22, or 23. They slide in and out rather easy, and I have yet to have any of my magazines get stuck or jammed. Because you are firing such a light load from this rifle, you will also notice that there is not too much recoil to worry about. I do, however, recommend wearing thicker clothing when you take this gun out to the range for a long day of shooting because the design of the buttstock is simply not very comfortable. I could only imagine firing this rifle all day while in a plain old t-shirt. So, while the blowback itself isn’t too heavy, the overall design of the butt is what makes it a bit of a pain as it has some poorly placed and rather sharp corners that really like to dig in. Thicker clothing or repositioning where you are resting it seems to remedy it quite a bit. The Sub-2000 features a 16-inch barrel that is threaded to accept a silencer. When unfolded, the barrel and stock measure 29.5 inches in length, when folded, this size cut in half down to 16 inches. And weighing in at only 4 lbs., maneuverability and storage of the Sub-2000 is a breeze. Just fold it up and toss it in your range bag and head out for the day. Overall, I have yet to be severely disappointed in the Sub-2000. Honestly, I’m kind of disappointed I didn’t get my hands on one sooner. @import url("//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,700&subset=latin");@import url("//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:300,700,400&subset=latin");@media (min-width: 300px){[data-css="tve-u-45bd34974a1514"] { background-image: none !important; }[data-css="tve-u-05bd34974a141d"] { border: none; background-image: none !important; margin-bottom: 0px !important; margin-top: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255) !important; }[data-css="tve-u-25bd34974a149a"] { background-image: none !important; background-color: rgb(242, 237, 237) !important; }[data-css="tve-u-95bd34974a1640"] { margin-top: -10px !important; background-image: none !important; padding-top: 0px !important; padding-bottom: 15px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-125bd34974a16fe"] { line-height: 1.1em !important; }:not(#tve) [data-css="tve-u-125bd34974a16fe"] { font-family: inherit !important; color: rgb(5, 5, 5) !important; font-size: 17px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-105bd34974a167c"] { line-height: 1em !important; }[data-css="tve-u-105bd34974a167c"] strong { font-weight: 700; }:not(#tve) [data-css="tve-u-105bd34974a167c"] { font-family: Lato; font-weight: 400; font-size: 25px !important; color: rgb(5, 5, 5) !important; }[data-css="tve-u-75bd34974a15c8"] { padding-top: 0px !important; background-image: none !important; padding-bottom: 5px !important; text-align: center; }[data-css="tve-u-115bd34974a16b9"] { padding: 0px 0px 20px !important; background-image: none !important; }[data-css="tve-u-35bd34974a14d8"] { max-width: 760px; min-height: 0px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-55bd34974a1550"] { margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px !important; padding-bottom: 0px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-55bd34974a1550"] > .tcb-flex-col { padding-left: 0px; }[data-css="tve-u-15bd34974a145e"] { border: none; border-radius: 5px; overflow: hidden; padding: 20px !important; margin-bottom: 20px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-85bd34974a1604"] { width: 85px; float: none; margin: 0px auto !important; }:not(#tve) [data-css="tve-u-145bd34974a1775"] { color: rgb(255, 255, 255) !important; font-size: 16px !important; font-family: "Open Sans" !important; letter-spacing: 1px; font-weight: 400 !important; }[data-css="tve-u-135bd34974a173a"] { overflow: hidden; max-width: 330px; float: none; width: 100%; background-color: rgb(241, 89, 42) !important; border-radius: 5px !important; padding-top: 5px !important; padding-bottom: 5px !important; margin-left: auto !important; margin-right: auto !important; z-index: 3; position: relative; }[data-css="tve-u-145bd34974a1775"] strong { font-weight: 700 !important; }[data-css="tve-u-125bd34974a16fe"] strong { font-weight: 700 !important; }[data-css="tve-u-15bd34974a145e"] .tve-page-section-in { display: block; }}@media (max-width: 767px){[data-css="tve-u-75bd34974a15c8"] { text-align: center; background-image: none !important; }:not(#tve) [data-css="tve-u-125bd34974a16fe"] { font-size: 22px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-05bd34974a141d"] { background-image: none !important; }[data-css="tve-u-25bd34974a149a"] { background-image: none !important; }:not(#tve) [data-css="tve-u-105bd34974a167c"] { font-size: 28px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-95bd34974a1640"] { background-image: none !important; padding-top: 10px !important; padding-bottom: 10px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-55bd34974a1550"] { padding-top: 0px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-45bd34974a1514"] { background-image: none !important; margin-bottom: 0px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-15bd34974a145e"] { padding-bottom: 20px !important; margin-bottom: 0px !important; padding-left: 10px !important; padding-right: 10px !important; }[data-css="tve-u-115bd34974a16b9"] { padding: 10px 0px !important; background-image: none !important; }} .tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_heading h1,.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_heading h2,.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_heading h3{margin:0;padding:0}.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_text_element p,.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_text_element h1,.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_text_element h2,.tve-leads-conversion-object .thrv_text_element h3{margin:0} Get Deals on Guns and Tactical Gear Join 70,000 Readers For Our Weekly Discounts GET MY DISCOUNTS Table of Contents 1 Features 2 Pros 3 Cons 4 Recommended Accessories 5 Final Thoughts Features Semi-automatic fire Blowback powered Adjustable and foldable Comes in either 9mm or .40cal Silencer threaded barrel Accepts most popular handgun magazines Weight, when unloaded, is around 4.25 pounds Easy to disassemble for cleaning or inspection (no tools required) Pros I have quite a few things that I want to praise this gun for, but I am going to keep it simple. There are three things that really make this gun a keeper in my opinion. First, the foldable design works flawlessly for this rifle. I can’t tell you how many times I have used a rifle and noticed a certain quirk about it that just seems to stand out. More often than not, it is supposed to be the signature design of the gun, but instead, it just feels like a secondary feature. Fortunately, this isn’t the case when it comes to the Kel-Tec Sub-2000. Instead, the folding capability feels more like the cornerstone of the gun itself. It does more than just stand out, it represents what this gun designed for from the ground up; stealth and mobility. When folded, the Sub-2000 fits perfectly in most backpacks, handgun cases , or hidden away in the glove compartment. Second, the ability to switch between all my favorite magazines from my everyday carry pistols is invaluable to me.  This rifle accepts Smith & Wesson M&P, "Sig Sauer P226" , Beretta 92 or 96, and Glock 17, 19, 22, or 23 magazines. This should be more than enough to cover just about anyone’s needs. Finally, this thing is super-lightweight ! When it is unloaded, it weighs in at about 4.25 pounds Cons There are a couple of things that I thought Kel-Tec could have done so much better with. For starters, the trigger on the Sub-2000 is a bit more spongy than I like. It is easy to pull, (about 9.5 lbs.) but it just doesn’t feel like it gives that much resistance, so you never really know how close it is to engaging. I’ll go ahead and tell you right now that the point in which the trigger mechanism finally engages is when it touches the back of the finger guard. That extra little bit of pressure that you must put on this trigger can easily result in a shot that is off target. Secondly, you also must contend with a few accuracy issues. After putting 500+ rounds through my Sub-2000, I can tell you that this gun is not going to be suitable for much competition shooting. It does pack a good deal of power, but when you venture past the 75-yard mark, precise shots start to get fewer and farther between. And that’s about all there is when it comes to the cons I have noticed so far. Neither of these should really be considered deal-breakers, and they are easy to correct. Recommended Accessories There are two highly-rated accessories that most Kel-Tec Sub owners like to try and get their hands on. Of course, you can mod this rifle to your heart’s content, but ultimately, it is a gun that really shines with minimalism, so why alter that more than you really need, right? Here are my two must-have accessories for the Kel-Tec Sub-2000: 1. Tacticool Gen 2 Bolt Tube Cover Due to the way that the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 is designed and where the sight is positioned on the barrel, your cheek will be resting on the bolt tube when you are trying to line up the perfect shot. This bolt tube cover makes sure that you can rest your cheek in comfort instead of cold metal. The material that this cover is made from is completely resistant to UV rays, extreme colds, solvents, and lubricants . Basically, anywhere your rifle can go, the tube cover may follow without the worry of it taking massive wear and tear too quickly. Installing this tube cover is extremely simple; Simply remove the butt stock and then slide your tube cover into place. To install the Operating Handle Cover that comes with it, just soak it in hot water and then slide it over the operating handle. The whole process takes a total of about 5-10 minutes, and it is time well-spent! 2. UTG Covert Homeland Security Gun Case The UTG "Covert Homeland Security" Gun Case is a prime choice for anyone who owns… well, just about any gun, but especially those who own the Kel-Tec Sub-2000. This gun case features a large front compartment, fully equipped with 6 Velcro straps to further secure your rifle. The straps are wide and lengthy enough to securely hold a wide-based stock. The secondary compartment is almost as large, and it can hold up to around 7-8, 30 round magazines in total. The overall build quality is better than what you would probably expect for the price. If you just must purchase a new case to go along with your new Kel-Tec Sub-2000, this is the one I recommend starting out with. Final Thoughts The Kel-Tec Sub-2000 is a foldable semi-automatic rifle that is designed with mobility and stealth in mind, and it is the perfect gun for a newbie to get a little practice in on without dislocating their shoulder. Keep in mind that while the Sub-2000 is a rifle, it is more accurately a semi-automatic pistol built into a stock. You won’t be hitting targets with much accuracy from 200+ yards away, but it sure is fun and useful for the regular practice routine at the range. Overall, I have really enjoyed shooting this gun and have experienced no major with my Sub-2000 that haven’t been easily corrected. If you don’t have this rifle in your gun cabinet already, go pick one up soon. Trust me, this thing will surprise you. This was the only holster they could find to fit that purpose. They were able to fit their pistols with this holster easily and quickly draw them out without damaging the holster or any of the accessories falling out of place. One user was even speechless when he found there was no bulging while the pistol was stored in the holster itself. Why it Stands Out to Us A lot of concealed carry users and those who use a pistol for tactical purposes will always have their pistols customized to their advantage, especially when moving around dark corners and blind spots. So if you are looking for a holster that can handle a fully customized pistol without having to detach each accessory (which is a waste of time anyway), this holster can handle them. Even better, the holster won’t cause any snagging and will allow for quick drawing. The Galco Halo Belt Holster is a leather holster with a thumb strap to secure your gun in place. The holster is very well made and intended to accommodate P229 with tactical lights attached. The holster is perfect if you use your handgun mostly at night. When SHTF, you need a holster you can carry with you every single day so your P229 pistol is ready to go at all times. It may not be used on a daily basis, but don’t let that be an excuse as to why you don’t need it. Bottom Line The Galco Halo Belt Holster is great for tactical and self-defense users that rely on a P229 pistol for such purposes. You won’t have to deal with the frustration of trying to fit a fully customized pistol into a holster when you have something that is perfectly designed to fit them. It’s a sturdy and reliable holster that will be a tactical user’s best friend and will handle high-stress situations better than most. The Galco Holster is a compact, leather-made holster which is quite comfortable and high on concealment. The holster can fit a P229 with tactical lights already attached. So it is good for people who like to use their weapon more at night. Aspects to Keep in Mind While Choosing a Holster for your SIG P229 There are a few aspects you must keep in mind before choosing a holster for your SIG P229. These factors are related to comfort, function, retention, type of holster, concealability, and several others. Let's take a look at them one by one: Proper Concealment Your SIG P229 holster should provide proper concealment to your weapon. There are different types of holsters available in the market. Source Some popular types include: IWB (Inside-the-Waistband), OWB (Outside-the- Waistband), belly band, ankle, shoulder, and others. Choose a holster which provides proper concealment to your SIG P229. It will give you an upper hand in self-defense situations and will also not offend people near you. Material, Fit, and Comfort Holsters are generally available in three different types of materials: leather, nylon, and Kydex. While leather may be the better option, Kydex and nylon are comparatively less expensive. Your holster must fit comfortably with your body and different postures. Make sure to assess any physical ailments, or other preferential factors before choosing one. Friction and Retention A good holster must be easy and quick to slide your Sig P229 in and out of. Additionally, it should hold your weapon snugly without wobbling. Some holsters have screws to help fit the handgun size, whereas others have stretchable designs and locks. Additionally, the holster should be easy to reach and should enable quick drawing of your weapon. Conclusion A good holster ensures not only the bearer's safety but also the safety of nearby people. A good holster must be easy to conceal, have a good grip, should offer protection to the weapon, and must be comfortable. Retention locks and other advanced mechanisms help with the functionality of the holster. There are holsters with different types of designs available on the market, so it ends up being a matter of personal discretion which type to buy.

Best Glock Night Sights for Low-Light Scenarios and Home Defense

Best Glock Night Sights for Low-Light Scenarios and Home Defense

Advertisment Night sights are a key addition to any defensive handgun, especially for Glock’s which don’t have the best factory sights anyway. I know, I know, “Perfection” is their motto, but there are some ways that we can improve Gaston’s Gat just a little bit to make it better for self-defense, especially in low-light conditions. These are the best choices for Glock owners looking to upgrade to sights that work better both at night and during broad daylight. I’ve used all of these sights, and several other models as well and I can confidently say that these won’t let you down when you need them most. First, we have to talk about… Why You Need Night Sights and How to Choose All defensive pistols should have night sights. Don’t buy a pistol for self or home defense if you can’t afford to put night sights on it. They’re not that expensive, as you’re going to see in just a minute, and you can install them yourself if you don’t want to pay a gunsmith $50 to handle it for you. The vast majority of violent crimes (Assault, rape/sexual assault, home invasion, and murder) happen at night . If you’re carrying a gun to protect yourself and your loved ones, you definitely need to be able to use it in low-light scenarios. You can be the best shot in the world, but even John Wick is going to miss if he can’t see his sights. Finally, factory Glock sights suck. Don’t get me wrong, I adore all of my Glocks, and I rarely leave the house without my G19 or my G43. That doesn’t change the fact that I knock out the OEM plastic ball-and-bucket sights before I ever take a new Glock to the range , and you should do the same if you’re going to be using yours to defend yourself. So, when picking night sights, you want something that’s bright, durable, and easy to use in both daylight and darkness. This is more important than you might think because some night sights are very difficult to use in bright sunlight. Also, sights and optics are always going to be a little subjective, especially on a handgun where everyone’s eyes and technique are going to be a little different. If at all possible, give each of these sights a try before you buy. Head down to your local rental range, or ask your buddies what they have on their guns. With all that out of the way, let’s look at some sights. "Front Outline Color" : Orange Ameriglo has carved out a name as one of the best suppliers of budget-minded night sights in the business, and their Pro-IDOT line is one of my favorites for anyone looking to get night sights on their gun without breaking the bank. These simple iron sights use a fluorescent orange circle around a green tritium lamp for the front sight and a simple green lamp under the rear notch for rapid target acquisition. These are “combat efficient” sights like most defensive sights, and are designed to be quick to acquire in low-light situations. These aren’t going to be super precise for target work, but they’ll get the job done. Where they really excel is that panic-filled moment when you have to draw quickly from a holster and fire, no matter how bright it is outside. And if you’re worried about quality at this price point, don’t be. Ameriglo machines the housings for these sights, but Trijicon, one of the most reliable names in sighting solutions makes the tritium inserts so you can be sure they’ll never let you down. I put some Ameriglo sights in a Gen4 Glock 19 almost seven years ago, and they’re still just as bright as when they went in, and actually saved my life once in a confrontation with a rabid wild dog that really wanted a piece of me as I opened the gate to our property late one night. In short, they really do work, and I continue to trust my life to them. TRUGLO TFO Product TRUGLO TFO Tritium and Fiber-Optic Handgun Sights for Glock... "Fits Glock Models" : 17/17L, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 33, 34, 35,... TRUGLO is another name you’re probably familiar with if you’ve done any previous research into night sights, and you’ve probably heard good things to boot. That’s because TRUGLO is one of the biggest suppliers of law-enforcement night sights, and they even make factory night sights for several OEM manufacturers. The TRUGLO TFO sights , in particular, are popular because they combine fiber-optic inserts with tritium lamps for a more consistently bright sight picture in the brightest sunlight, or when it’s pitch blackout. TRUGLO’s TFO line is probably my second choice for someone looking to pick up a set of night sights on a budget, so just compare prices and features with the Ameriglo set above and see which ones you like best, or can get at the best price. I like the TFO’s in particular because they perform great in all lighting conditions, which is not something I can say about all the night sights that I’ve tried. Best of all, they offer color contrasting front and rear sights, which I always highly recommend for any shooter of any skill level. In a high-stress situation, all your fine motor skills are going out the window, and your ability to quickly find that sight picture you practiced so much at the range is going to be immensely degraded. Having a color-contrasted front sight, in this case, a brighter green front post that contrasts with the slightly-dimmer yellow rear notch, allows you to train your eyes to quickly find that front post, and not be distracted by the bright rear sight. This makes target acquisition and rapid defensive shooting that much easier, and can really improve your shot placement in a panic situation. TRUGLO TFX PRO Handgun Sight Set Product TRUGLO Brite-Site, TFX Pro, Sight, Fits Glock... Top Overall Pick Sport type: Camping & Hiking Manufacturer: TruGlo Made of highest quality material Quick and accurate U-notch Design Our rating Details Sport type: Camping & Hiking Manufacturer: TruGlo Made of highest quality material Quick and accurate U-notch Design The one downside of the TFOs is that they’re not the most durable things in the world. They’re still more durable than the factory Glock sights, but if you’re looking for something that can take being thrown around a bit better, there are some other options out there. TRUGLO’s TFX PRO line is a good place to start. These are the ones you’ll see on a lot of law enforcement guns, as they’re designed to take some abuse, and even stand up to harsh chemical substances like sweat, gun oils, and solvents so you don’t have to worry so much about them being degraded that way. The TFX PRO series uses the same hybrid combination of fiber-optic inserts coupled with tritium lamps so you get the best of both worlds in every lighting, and the sights themselves feature a deep rear U-shaped notch and anti-glare serrations at the back, and a high-contrast red ring around the front sight for rapid target acquisition. All in all, these sights are great for anyone looking to improve the sights on their Glock, but they’re especially great if you might have to knowingly carry your weapon into a dangerous situation. They’re rugged and reliable, and easy to use in a high-stress scenario. I personally carry them on one of my guns, and I’ve never experienced a single issue in the three or so years I’ve had them. Dot-The-“i” straight-line... Our Glock sight bodies are CNC machined from steel for duty grade... Made in the USA, with U.S. steel, and Backed by our 10-year... XS Sight Systems is a relatively new name in night sights, but it’s one worth remembering. They’re best known for their Big Dot Sights which, as you might guess, utilize a larger-than-normal front sight post. The goal here is to trade a little bit of precision for a whole lot of speed. Having such a large front sight post gives you much more to focus on when drawing your Glock (or any gun) and trying to find that sight picture. In a defensive situation, your eye is going to be drawn all over the place, and focusing on that front sight for good shooting technique may be difficult. With a Big Dot, you don’t have to worry about that. This is a long way from a target-style sight, but it’s still plenty accurate for a defensive situation where you’re probably going to be shooting with a less-than-ideal sight picture anyway. I like the Big Dot because it represents a new innovation in pistol sights, but it’s not just a gimmick like some other sight systems. There’s actually some very sound psychology and a sound understanding of tactics and defensive shooting that went into this. These sights are great for all Glocks, but I particularly like them on smaller-framed handguns that don’t have the best sight radius anyway. If I have to pull my gun to defend my life, perfect shot placement is a secondary concern to getting rounds on target quickly. The person with a knife charging out of the darkness with a knife doesn’t care about A-zone hits after all. I just need to get hits on the upper torso before he gets to me. This sight setup helps with that. They’re still plenty accurate for that followup headshot in a Failure to Stop situation, trust me. Notch Width:0.169 inch One-handed slide manipulation Of course, we can’t talk about night sights and not mention Trijicon. Trijicon is one of the biggest names in optics around the world, and they’ve built their empire on reliable and robust equipment that’s well-designed. And Trijicon night sights only add to that reputation for reliability and function. Trijicon has long been the standard for most night sights, so much so that many OEM manufacturers actually use Trijicon night sights in their upgraded or high-end guns, and many other sight manufacturers actually use Trijicon inserts. They’re a little pricer, generally speaking, but there’s something to be said for buying the best, especially when your life is potentially on the line. I personally carry these and use them in one of my competition guns, and I couldn’t be happier with the performance, or the life I’ve gotten out of them. I recently held mine up against a buddy’s new ones, and my eight-year-old sights were only just noticeably dimmer, and still plenty bright for any kind of night time shooting. A Note About Red Dots Before we wrap this one up, I do want to make a note about pistol-mounted red dots. Red dots, in general, have come a long way in the last decade or so, and nowhere is that more evident than in the multitude of optics-ready pistols that are being made for concealed carry. With so many excellent options out there for carrying guns, either open or concealed and with so many of them being available with slide cuts for a red dot, I think it’s something everyone should try out for themselves. Glock has a number of MOS (Modular Optics System) guns that are optics-ready right out of the box, so no worries there, and there’s always aftermarket slide options like Lonewolf . A red dot doesn’t make a gun much harder to conceal at all, and they’re even more robust than most night sights, as well as faster to get on target with some training. If you’re looking to try out a red dot for yourself, I recommend looking at the following. In no particular order: -Trijicon RMR -Vortex Venom -Burris FastFirst III I’ve used all of these, and have all of them on various guns right now, but I carry the Burris model. Try them and see which ones (if any) you might want to carry. I can guarantee they’ll hold up, and serve you well. Parting Shots That’s about it for Glock night sights. There are a number of other brands out there that perform well, but I don’t like recommending stuff I haven’t used. Of the ones not listed here, I trust Meprolight and Night Fission if you want to order off the menu, and haven’t had enough time with the others to say. I hope this look at all the options out there has helped somewhat, and if so, let me know in the comments, either here or on social media. Also, feel free to tell me what I got wrong, what you disagree with, or what night sights I should have included instead. This product was presentation was made with AAWP plugin.

C2 TASER: Full Review

C2 TASER: Full Review

There is no “silver bullet” for self defense. Carrying a firearm allows you to counter a lethal threat with like force, but not all self defense scenarios are cut-and-dry. What happens when some young drunk, head busting with alcohol-induced bravado, approaches you, threatening to clean your clock out on the street over some imagined or exaggerated slight? Do you pull your gun and shoot him down as he reaches toward you? With a multi-platform self defense approach, mistakes like our story’s young intoxicated idiot’s lapse in judgement don’t have to be fatal. Having less-than-lethal self defense tools allows me the option to counter a threat without escalating the situation by brandishing my firearm. And in some instances, a less-than-lethal self defense implement may be my only option. Enter the C2 TASER. Overview The C2 isn’t the only option for less-than-lethal self defense, but it is the focus of this review (for a discussion on more self defense options, check out this article ). The C2 TASER is an electronic control device (ECD) that launches a pair of probes attached to 15′ wires that, once in contact with the target deliver 7 watts of electric pulse to incapacitate an attacker for up to 30 seconds per trigger button press (each power cell fuels approximately 50 cycles). Small, light, and ergonomic, the C2 TASER looks like a brightly colored flashlight. Features Slim, light (5.36oz unloaded), and ergonomic, the C2 TASER resembles a flashlight. Each unit is available in a range of colors (yellow, red, pink, silver, black, or blue) and includes the C2 itself, a lithium power magazine (LPM), one live cartridge, user manual, and an instructional DVD. The “gold” package, however, also includes a training cartridge, an additional live cartridge, and a training target and a holster for the C2 unit. The C2 TASER is a user-friendly tool. The interface includes a battery power indicator LED (blinking red = non functional, yellow = low power, green = ample charge) and a trigger button beneath a sliding plastic cover. Aim at the “bad guy,” slide open the cover, and press the trigger button. Each cartridge contains two barbed probes on 15 foot wires and a burst of “confetti.” These small brightly colored “confettis” are labeled with serial numbers. This measure is to aid in identifying unauthorized uses of TASER units (TASER also requires that every potential buyer passes a background check in order to purchase a TASER unit). User-friendly controls: trigger button and battery LED indicator. The C2 also features aim assistance in low light conditions in the form of a white LED (to illuminate your target) and a red laser. Each lithium power magazine has the capacity to charge about 50 30 second cycles before it needs to be replaced. Each C2 can hold one cartridge at a time, but when its cartridge has been expended, it also has a contact stun function. Functions One press of the trigger button launches the compressed nitrogen propelled probes at the attacker. Once the circuit is complete, an electrical pulse that mimics the signal the brain uses to control the muscles flows through the 15′ wires for up to 30 seconds (per press). The charge can be ceased by closing the trigger button cover, or a successive charge can be initiated by pressing the button again (after the first 30 second charge has elapsed). As opposed to a “stun gun,” the C2 TASER does not rely on pain compliance to incapacitate. Instead, it exploits the body’s natural neuromuscular function by sending a pulse that mimics the same electric wave that the brain uses to communicate the muscles. This neuromuscular interference (NMI) impedes the target’s muscular controls, which causes the muscles to contract and release rapidly for as long as the charge is uninterrupted. You can compare this effect to how “static” can interfere with being able to get a comprehensible message through a radio. Because the C2 mimics the body’s natural electric function, it is designed not to cause great bodily injury as part of this NMI effect, even if the target is in contact with water. Evaluation The C2 TASER, like any self defense tool, has its set of benefits and drawbacks. Some of the downsides of the C2 is its limited capacity. Only having one cartridge at the user’s disposal can be a significant risk in the case of a multiple attacker situation, especially if one of the probes doesn’t make contact, or if they both miss entirely. The need to complete the electrical circuit can also be a problem in the event that the probes do not come in close enough contact to the assailant. The C2 TASER utilizes what TASER International calls a “shaped pulse” to allow the current to jump from the barbed probe to the attacker. However, this pulse only allows for two cumulative inches of space between the flesh of the attacker and the ends of the metal probes. If the distance is greater than that, the circuit cannot be completed, and the charge is ineffective. The C2 does feature a backup, drive stun function is just that – a backup, but as it requires direct contact and is a pain compliance function, it is a less-than-ideal alternative function of the C2. Visible here are the drive stun electrodes in action, as well as the light and laser aim assistance. The advantage of the C2 TASER is in how the electric charge interferes with the body’s natural muscular control for up to 30 seconds per charge, which can provide the victim the opportunity to set down the TASER unit, while still active, and distance themselves from the attacker. As someone who has experienced a five second jolt from a C2 unit , I know how incapable I was of controlling my own muscles during the charge, and how exhausted I was after only 1/6th of the full cycle. That 30 seconds of charge, the disorientation and muscular exhaustion afterward provides a potentially crucial opportunity for the victim to distance themselves from their assailant. TASER International encourages those who purchase their products both to learn about how their units work, to train with them. For those who are forced to use and abandon their C2 TASER in the interest of self defense, TASER International agrees to replace the unit at no additional charge. No one self defense tool is suited for every potential self defense situation, but including a less-than-lethal self defense option for your concealed carry. For those who cannot or are uncomfortable with carrying a firearm , the C2 TASER is an ECD that could provide the crucial window of opportunity for you to get out of a dangerous situation – without taking a life.

5.11 MP5 Mag Pouch A multi fit mag pouch

I own quite a few wanna be subguns. I was into pistol caliber carbines before they became all the rage and plan to be until long after it dies down. Until pistol caliber carbines became the rage it could be tricky to try and find mag pouches. Nowadays everyone makes them, Blue Force Gear, Condor, Blackhawk, Barska, and most small custom gear shops. Before these companies jumped on the subgun train the only quality subgun pouches I could find was the 5.11 MP5 Mag pouch. The 5.11 MP5 Mag Pouch Review I don’t own an MP5, and never have, but when I was looking for Colt SMG pouches I figured these would fit. Luckily I wasn’t wrong. The 5.11 MP5 Mag pouch I purchased is MOLLE compatible. It also utilizes bungee or a standard mag cover to secure your magazines. It’s a double mag pouch, but single magazines work as well. It’s nothing revolutionary, or fancy, but it works. Do Work It actually works pretty damn well. It’s taken its bumps and hits and keeps kicking. It has been my go to subgun mag pouch for nearly 3 years and hasn’t frayed, split, or torn in any way. The hook and loop is still good to go, and it goes on and off kit without an issue. 5.11 bartacks stress points to reinforce the nylon construction. The 5.11 MP5 mag pouch is made from 500D nylon and is treated to resistance moisture and dirty. The treatment seems to work since my 5.11 MP5 Mag pouches have been run hard, in water, in dirt and especially sand. It’s generous in size to fit most pistol caliber carbine mags. As a side note, it will also fit extended pistol magazines pretty well. The mag pouches do not completely cover the magazines, so they are shorter and can accommodate 20 or 30 round pistol magazines in most cases. 5.11 MP5 Mag Pouch compatibility. If you are like me and don’t have an MP5 it doesn’t seem to make much sense to buy MP5 mag pouches right? I only did it because it was my only modern, high quality and affordable option at the time. Along the way, I’ve come to find out that quite a few magazines will fit in my 5.11 MP5 mag pouch. It could fit more, but these are the only ones I’ve personally tested. This includes the following – Colt 32 Round SMG magazines UZI magazines Beretta 92 extended magazines CZ 75 extended magazines Glock 9mm extended magazines Walther P99 extended magazines Reportedly they will fit MP7 magazines pouches. If HK wants to send me an MP7 to test it out I will happily oblige. Sadly the 5.11 MP5 mag pouch will not fit my CZ Scorpion magazines, which sucks, but is a fact of life. Overall, for the price, it’s hard to beat the 5.11 MP5 mag pouches. Their multi fit nature has already made them some of the most useful mag pouches I’ve ever purchased. Want your own? Got 20 bucks? Summary
